There was a full house Saturday night at The Tower Club for Food for Thought, an annual charity fundraiser hosted by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. The beneficiary was Big Thought, a charity which “is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits focused on building partnerships that allow all children access to quality learning opportunities.” Their mission: “to make imagination a part of everyday learning — we do our work so that children have opportunities to become imaginative, adaptable and productive adults, resulting in stronger communities and a more capable future workforce. We do this because we believe that every child and family should be immersed in opportunities to imagine, create and succeed.” Big Thought programs are accomplished both at schools and after school hours in the broader community.”

Saturday night’s Food For Thought, a benefit hosted by the Young Dallas Lawyer’s Association at the Tower Club, was a fantastic success, raising thousands of dollars for Big Thought, one of Dallas’ leading nonprofits dedicated to improving public education.

These were some of the silent auction items up for bid at the third annual Food for Thought event on Saturday night. Hosted by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and benefiting Big Thought, one of Dallas’ leading nonprofits dedicated to improving public education, the gathering featured live music, a premium bar, and serving stations that lined the outer perimeter of the room showcasing food by some of the area’s top chefs.

In the midst of high rise towers and cantilevered on the rooftop of one of the newest hotels by the amazing architect/designer Adam Tihany, is this awe-inspiring swimming pool of the Joule Hotel in Dallas, Texas. I’m out of words, except to say that you really must have nerve to swim close to that overhanging edge! I wonder if they provide parachutes with the towel service.

The Joule is tall, handsome, a period piece. But while the building is older Dallas the inside is young, fresh, friendly, and smart. Maybe it's Texas, or maybe it's the Joule, but lots of smiles, and they were sincere. Everybody wanted to lend a hand.

The Joule hotel in downtown Dallas really has reason to be noted on this site. I love luxury hotels and what they add to my travel experience. Dallas, Texas has plenty of misconceptions, unearned stereotypes and interestingly enough it has so much to it that is usually only known by those that have traveled there somewhat extensively. I love Turtle Creek and Highland Park and it is easy to do so. In a city planning move, the city is trying to revitalize downtown Dallas to make it more trendy and energetic. The Joule, therefore, is aptly named.

"With its rooftop pool and sleek elegance, this fairly new property [The Joule Dallas] already has an excellent reputation," said Eric Affeldt, Dallas resident and CEO of ClubCorp, the largest owner of private clubs in world.

The pool, excuse me; “poule” at the Joule Hotel is quickly becoming the go-to destination for fun in the (sweltering) Dallas sun. Just this weekend, they opened up the doors to their rooftop haven for a Memorial Day pre-summer soiree, and the party was a hit.
